If you see two smiling ladies in pink, fluffy bathrobes, you have probably had the privilege of meeting the power duo behind Mom Brain Media, Kristin and Jen. Though they enjoy a good laugh, a fun tour around the Metroplex, and a women's event that is as fun as it is informative, these two boy moms mean business. They're not just helping you with your marketing; they're equipping you to do it in a way that is smart, strategic, and addresses the specific needs of women and moms.
From Boss Women Bus Tours to school events and networking events, these women are out in the community helping drive Texas businesses forward by teaching them how to "Market Like a Mother™."
How did you two meet, and how did your friendship evolve into the launch of Mom Brain Media?
We first met through an early childhood PTA when we were both raising young children. Then in 2020, we each had our second child during the height of the pandemic. The world was shut down, motherhood felt isolating, and we were both desperately searching for connection during a really uncertain time.
What started as friendship quickly became something deeper because we were honest with each other from the beginning. We talked openly about the challenges of motherhood, identity shifts, ambition, burnout, and the pressure of trying to hold everything together. We became a source of light and support for each other during a season that felt incredibly heavy.
At the same time, we both recognized that motherhood wasn't the beginning of who we were; it was an expansion of it. We were full human beings before becoming moms, each with our own strengths, creativity, and professional experience. As we started thinking about re-entering the workforce, we realized the traditional corporate structure no longer aligned with the kind of lives we wanted to build. We wanted to be present mothers while still pursuing meaningful, ambitious work.
So instead of trying to fit back into a model that no longer worked for us, we built our own. That's how Mom Brain Media was born.
Your tagline is "Market Like a Mother™." What does it truly mean to market like a mother, and how does that approach help small businesses and solopreneurs stand out in an oversaturated market?
To "Market Like a Mother™" means showing up for your business the same way you would show up for your child: with discernment, responsibility, and deep care. We believe your business is an extension of you. What you put into the world matters, and you're accountable for the impact it has on people. Mothers naturally think long-term; they make decisions rooted in sustainability, intuition, and future consequences, not just quick wins. That mindset completely changes the way we approach marketing.
For us, it's a rejection of aggressive "bro marketing" tactics built on manipulation, manufactured scarcity, and performative urgency. Instead, we lead with honesty, emotional intelligence, and strategic integrity. We believe you can market powerfully without abandoning your humanity.
That's also why this approach helps small businesses and solopreneurs stand out in an oversaturated market. Consumers are exhausted by noise and constant sales pressure. People are craving brands that feel trustworthy, grounded, and real. When a business communicates with conviction, authenticity, and respect for its audience, people feel that difference immediately.
At the end of the day, people connect with people not logos or titles.
Recently, there have been more conversations around the positive impact motherhood can have on leadership and entrepreneurship. How has motherhood shaped the way you lead, market, and make business decisions?
We've been sold a very narrow and outdated definition of leadership; one that prioritizes control, constant output, and linear thinking while overlooking the kinds of decision-making that happen under real pressure and complexity.
Motherhood has absolutely shaped the way we lead, market, and make business decisions because becoming mothers changed the way we see people. As mothers, we are constantly identifying strengths, nurturing potential, adapting quickly, and learning how to navigate competing priorities in real time. That perspective naturally translates into leadership, team dynamics, and entrepreneurship.
It also taught us that people are far more multidimensional than the labels we assign to them. A mother is never just a mom, just like an employee is never just a job title. When you learn to recognize strengths beyond traditional expectations, you start to see how many capable leaders have been underestimated or underutilized.
That philosophy is deeply woven into how we've built Mom Brain Media. Motherhood taught us to value sustainability over performance, connection over manipulation, and discernment over noise — and those values influence every business decision we make.
